North Queensferry is an historic former fishing village and ferry port nestling on the north bank of the River Forth with beautiful views south over to Edinburgh and the famous Forth Rail Bridge.

If you are here in August, the Edinburgh International Festival, the Military Tattoo and the Fringe Festival are more than enough to keep you busy and your feet throbbing! Edinburgh is steeped in history so don't miss visiting the Castle, the Royal Mile, the Royal Palace of Holyrood House, the many different museums, cinemas, art galleries and fantastic shopping that Edinburgh always offers.

The golf courses of the Lothians and Fife, including the famous Old Course of St Andrews are all within a pleasant drive. You can beat the traffic heading out of Edinburgh by getting a head start from the North side of the River Forth!

North Queensferry is at the start (or finish) of the Kingdom of Fife Coastal Path to St Andrews. The path is ideal for walking and cycling tours to the pretty coastal villages of the East Neuk of Fife.

Lovely Scenery Friendly Atmosphere

Just up the road is Dunfermline Abbey, burial place of King Robert the Bruce. A few minutes drive along the banks of the River Forth is the historic village of Culross. It is inhabited, yet preserved as it was centuries ago and well worth a look. Hopetoun House, Dalmeny House and Blackness Castle all lie just across the river, on the south bank, within a few minutes drive. The Bo'ness Steam Railway is a real treat for the whole family, particularly if you are one of the lucky few invited onto the footplate! Also within easy reach are Stirling Castle, the Wallace Monument and the picturesque "Castle Gloom" in Dollar Glen, by the Ochil hills.

There are active sailing clubs nearby at Dalgety Bay and Port Edgar. Organised cruises to and from Incholm Island in the River Forth depart daily in July and August. Or try an exhilirating voyage with Sea.fari Adventures, available all year round. At the Vane Farm Bird Sanctuary at Kinross on the shore of Loch Leven you will find beautiful walks, and a little boat will take you to the castle in the middle of the loch where Mary, Queen of Scots was imprisoned by her cousin Queen Elizabeth I of England. Falkland Palace, where Mary spent happier times, is also within easy reach.

You don't have to go anywhere except across the road to visit Deep Sea World, Scotland's National Aquarium and longest underwater walkway in Europe.
